What is santalucia

Print Company

In 1922 santalucía first started business in the street known as Calle Santa Lucía in La Coruña, Spain. In 1931 it became a corporation and in 1943 the generation prior to the current management took over the control and administration of the company known as Santa Lucia S.A. Seguro Popular. The name change was agreed at the last General Meeting of Shareholders on 17th May 2007, when it became Santa Lucía S.A. Compañía de Seguros y Reaseguros.

The first head offices in Madrid were located in Calle de Preciados until the late 50s when they moved to calle Gran Vía, 68. At that time, santalucía sold exclusively Funeral insurance. It expanded into other insurance markets in the seventies, starting with Fire Insurance and, ten years later, turning to Life Insurance.

Over the past forty years, the Company has developed its business in what have been its head offices since 1967 at no. 15, Plaza de España, designed by the architect Juan Pan da Torre. Over time, company expansion led to the need to extend the premises and, in the new millennium, it purchased the adjoining building to construct a modern property in order to enlarge its head offices.
